In November - we held our annual Arkansas Art Educators conference. I wear a lot of hats - Middle Level Rep., Vendor Exhibits Coordinator, and Presenter - but most of all I always love going to conference to see fellow art colleagues I don't usually see throughout the school year. I also get to meet folks face-to-face who I might read from and talk to on Facebook pages.
One such person is Jessica Balsley of The Art of Education. She kicked-off our conference with the opening keynote presentation. It was such a relief to hear - 'hey, you can't do it all and that's ok - but here's how to showcase all the stuff you do all year!' Jessica knows what it is like to be a teacher with a zillion things to do - and also to be a real person with bills to pay and a family to nurture. Thank you, Jessica, for telling each of us to just be ourselves in our teacher lives! She gave us some good presentation download goodies, too! :)
I went to a workshop about augmented reality. Whoa! A dinosaur can run through my picture?! What?! I need a whole week to play with this app and its endless possibilities. I can let parents hear and see their students talk about their artworks during the art show - awesome! I am hoping to use this app in a few different ways. If you haven't tried this yet - check out the link above.
And we had awesome vendors donate swag bag items and tons of door prizes for our art educators! Thank you so much for presenting workshops, product demos, and for your all around awesome expertise in our art supply/resource world! Our educators and I appreciate it beyond words!!! The next few weeks I will be adding some posts about my classroom and projects happening. It's been long overdue - but I finally got my computer and apps updated and sorted, so I should be good to go now.
What kinds of art goodies are your favorite???
Artfully Yours... ~Nikki K.
