So all that life and teacher "stuff" happened and the first quarter feels like it happened in a blink of an eye. It's almost Thanksgiving break - then Christmas and holiday break - and what??? The end of the second quarter and a new year. Ok - I need to slow down and take one day at a time. What have my kids been up to??? Well, check out some new photos and albums in my Studio and Gallery pages. For this TAB school year I opened centers a bit faster than last year. Although, we are just coming up on the sculpture center like last year about the same time. I have been trying to use Socratic circles for more discussions and have kids explore various building/attachment techniques before we dive into the found objects for building. Below is a group of kiddos working on a group sculpture "test" to use various paper attachment techniques. So far - we've had a lot of rich conversations, so I am hoping the kids are understanding all the possibilities for sculpture - and of course, some possibilities are never fully understood until experimentation and "play" happens.
With the second quarter winding down students have to complete two wow! projects along with their rubric/reflections. I will be referring back to the wow and not-so-wow posters and using gallery walks as opportunities for students to begin assessing their artworks. If you missed my rubric/reflecttion forms I use, please check them out and download them from below.
